THINKING THE WEB, GIVING THE LINKS
by Fred Vidal, PdD

Summary for a Conference in UCLA
(Information Science Department)
and several other American Universities
(scheduled for the 1st Semester 2009)

Previous conferences:

PhD Dissertation: 1999, Paris, France (University of Pantheon-Assas Paris2)
The French Government Publications and Official Websites

Centre Universitaire Mediterraneen (CUM), Nice, France (2002)
Web and Public Action, the example of Lionel Jospin Government on the Internet

UCLA, 2004, DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION SCIENCE
The Internet, after the Bubble Crisis (called the Web 1.0 Internet, to be published)

THINKING THE WEB, GIVING THE LINKS (Conference 2008-2009)

My personal experience with the Hollywood 2.0 Intranet
and my scientific understanding of the Internet development

1. A NEW SUCCESS FOR THE WEB: COMMUNITY SITES.
WHY ARE THEY SO POPULAR AND WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
Support of the Entertainment Industry as a promotion tool but it must mean more...

2. A PART OF THE POPULATION STAYS OUTSIDE THE WEB:
DOING EMAILS ONLY (D.E.O.) BECAUSE OF TIME SCHEDULE
(Is it connected to the generations, the way of life or the ideology?)

3. WEB SPECIALISTS AND PUBLICISTS IN NEED OF A MODEL:
WEB 2.0, BUZZWORDS AND PROMOTION POLICIES
(including: the risk of a viral marketing for democracy and social dysfunctions)

4. MORE AND MORE YOUNG COMPANIES OPEN THEIR SITES:
PROJECT FOR THE CREATION OF THE INTERNET CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
(including Start-Ups, budget previsions, quality plan and business targets)

5. GROUPS, COMMUNITIES, 'TRIBES': THE BLOG GENERATION,
MEANING OR NOT THE BUILDING OF AN INTERNET NATION
(obsolescence of the Intranet concept, example of Hollywood 2.0)

6. THE NON-SOCIAL WEB IMPROVES THE QUALITY
AND THE EFFICIENCY OF ITS SERVICES:
SCIENTIFIC WEB (Universities), BANKING WEB (online services),
SHOPPING WEB (blockbusters and experiences in progress)

I recommend this UCLA Research Site:

I'm very well in touch with the management team and appreciate the quality of their research.

SOCIAL INTERNET DOMINANCE or POST-AMERICAN DREAM CRISIS/DRAMA? This is the subject of Fred Vidal's Conference written for UCLA and published online.

There is a WEB GAP now, 2 cultures, 2 societies:

The Internet Connected Society (ICS), I mean the people and groups doing Web 2.0, on one hand, and, on the other hand, the society of the 1950’s still on location (Post-American Dream) Doing Emails Only (DEO), traditional America but in crisis, including, unfortunately, for us and the Late Wall Street (LWS), some opinion leaders and newspapers masterminds.

We need a lot more studies in our universities, beginning this year 2008-2009, about the SOCIAL INTERNET DOMINANCE.

Exaggeration? This is written for 2009 and after, not for the past.

Social researcher, entrepreneur and artist

Fred Vidal is preparing a second conference for the Information Science Department of UCLA (his first conference in 2004 was about the Web 1.0). This conference will be proposed to other universities nationwide in October.
